PTO MEETING MINUTES
Sawtooth Elementary
February 1, 2012
Meeting called to order by Jennifer Tingey Time: 3:35 pm
Attendance: PTO Board: Jennifer Tingey, President, Julie Schnoor, Co-President, Christy Lloyd, Treasurer, Judi Smith, Secretary, Principal Rutledge Shelly Wright, Suzan Jahns, Felicia Boeddiker, Tonya Ford, Stephanie Habel, Heidi Hawkins •
Christmas wish tree – received many thank you’s from the teachers for the gifts received at Christmas time from parents and the PTO.
•March 1st, 2012: Dr. Seuss night - title I Activities/awareness. In conjunction the PTO will hold their spring fundraiser that night – a spaghetti dinner. Dinner will be served from 5:30 – 7:00. Cost for spaghetti dinner will be $5.00/adults, $3.00/kids, $20.00/family (for tickets bought in advance). At the door the tickets will be $6.00/adults, $3.00/kids. Dr. Seuss night will go from 6:00 – 8:00. At 7:00 the 2nd graders will perform than cake and ice cream will be served. All money raised will go towards new computers and library books.
• March 2nd, 2012: Sawtooth will take the whole school to go see the movie “The Lorax” in conjunction with Dr. Seuss celebration. The movie is rated PG – parent consent form will be sent home. Those children who will not be able to attend will remain at school with teacher supervision. They will go in the morning. Parent volunteers needed. Snack bar will not be open. Sawtooth school and PTO will help to cover costs, parents may need to pay a little depending on funds available. No parent objections to this idea at our PTO meeting today.
• Science Fair will be held on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 in conjunction with the book fair in the evening. $500.00 grant received to help with costs. Heidi Hawkins is the chair. The children can bring their tri-fold posters night before (March 14th). Longview Fibre will donate all the tr-fold posters needed! Heidi passed around sign-up sheet to get volunteers for the day of the science fair. No bake sale will be held that night. Heidi will take care of ribbons/prizes. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes per grade, Grand prize and Runner-up prize and everyone will receive a participatory ribbon. Field trip for all students who participated possibly to Hagerman fish and game. Will check into costs of buses.
