It’s a Surprise Day has been so much fun so far! 🎉

Some classrooms kicked off the day with ice cream thanks to generous parent donations, Ms. Denny was surprised with beautiful flowers to start her morning, and we even had a special visit from high school students who shared an important presentation about the importance of wearing sunscreen. What a great morning full of smiles and surprises! ☀️

Students in Ms. Oberg’s class put their creativity to the test by designing and creating their very own board games for Game Day last Friday! From imaginative themes to detailed rules, each game was unique and full of fun. It was so exciting to see students playing, collaborating, and enjoying the games they worked so hard to make. 🎲

Week 32 was full of fun and memorable moments! We continued working hard on ISATs, enjoyed having Yeoman teach our 5th graders how to play Flip 7, and kept moving with some line dancing. We celebrated birthdays with donuts, welcomed future students at Kindergarten Open House, and had some chilly fun with bubbles outside. From matching outfits to ABC Countdown activities, we wrapped it all up with cozy clothes and hats to end the week!

We’re so thankful that Sadie and Olivia chose Oregon Trail to present their project on skin cancer! ☀️

Some of our 5th graders had the opportunity to learn all about the importance of protecting their skin. They explored the causes of skin damage, ways to prevent it, and gained a better understanding of skin cancer.

Before wrapping up, students created special bracelets that change color when exposed to UV rays—such a fun and meaningful reminder to protect your skin every time you head outside! 💛

Taste Testing during FUNctional Friday! Started with a read aloud to learn about taste buds, then learned our key vocabulary words: sweet, salty, bitter, sour. We had 19 CRHS student helpers who partnered with each Oregon Trail student to taste test a marshmallow, a cracker, and broccoli floret, and a lemon piece. Everyone practiced the vocabulary in a sentence and then we compared foods like green/red apples, sour/sweet candy, dark/milk chocolate, and sweet/dill pickles.

Week 31 continued with ISAT testing for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Despite the busy schedule, our morning meetings remained a strong and positive start to each day—featuring some of our amazing second graders practicing new skills!

We also kicked off our ABC Countdown on Thursday, adding even more excitement to the end of our year. One of our favorite highlights was Family Night, where so many wonderful families joined us for fun art projects inspired by The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It was a great time filled with creativity, connection, and community!
